Learn More about Blue Lagoon

Blue Lagoon is the name of a spa located in the southwest of Iceland, on the Reykjanesskagi river, forty minutes southwest of the capital Reykjavik. The particularity of this spa is the creation of a completely artificial lake of more than 656.1 feet (200 meters) in length in a volcanic area, in the middle of lava fields and lichen fed by the water of the geothermal power station of Svartsengi.

The Blue Lagoon is a spa that could be described as upscale. Here the infrastructures are extremely modern and all the necessary comforts are present so that the visitors feel at ease.
Once in a swimsuit, a shower is mandatory. A mask to apply to the hair is available in self-service. Do not hesitate to use it! It will protect your hair from the silica-rich water that could dry it out. You will also find it in the showers on the way back. You are finally in the turquoise waters of the Blue Lagoon, in the middle of Iceland! Take the time to explore the lagoon, it is huge!

Even if the crowd rushes here every day, the immensity of the place allows you to be relatively quiet. As soon as you move away from the entrance area of the Blue Lagoon, the crowd becomes less dense, and you find yourself in a quiet place.

You will quickly notice two gathering points in the Blue Lagoon: the mask bar and the bar itself. You can even sip cocktails while enjoying the thermal waters, such a relaxing experience!

The water of the Blue Lagoon is really hot. Depending on the area of the lagoon you are in, the water is between 30 °C and 40 °C. It is really a pleasure to swim there, especially when the outside temperatures are very low. In the winter, in Iceland, it is an incredible experience.

The color of the waters of the Blue Lagoon is also unique. It is the silica contained in the water as well as the presence of blue-green algae that give the Blue Lagoon this particular milky turquoise color. Finally, the high concentration of minerals and sicilian in the waters of the Blue Lagoon gives it curative properties against certain skin diseases. In case of skin diseases such as psoriasis or eczema, the waters of the Blue Lagoon are particularly adapted.

It is an ideal destination to relax and take care of yourself, in a setting worthy of the movies.
